"Pakai tudung lebih cantik"?

I've heard this said many times, especially with the recent "issue" of Emma Maembong removing her hijab. People don't realize how foolish this sounds actually.. I always say in response; if that is the case, doesn't it mean it is better NOT to wear the hijab. Since the hijab is supposed to cover your beauty. If it makes you MORE beautiful, then logically speaking, it's better for you not to wear it.

It's true isn't it? Every time you look at Emma's instagram nowadays, the comments left for her will definitely include this "pakai tudung lagi cantik" thing, with the intended meaning is to encourage Emma to wear back the tudung. In fact it will be said to everyone who has ever donned a tudung and decided to take it off.

If you believe that the tudung is obligatory (wajib), just keep it to yourself, can you? Sometimes the comments you make are nonsensical and will only leave the exact opposite of your intended meaning. Indeed if you say that wearing the tudung makes you more beautiful and attractive, then that means wearing the tudung has the opposite effect of what you are preaching, namely "covering the beauty".

Many have actually noticed by now, that many women that wear tudung really can look more beautiful than those not wearing, especially when they adorn themselves with makeup. So at the end of the day, what do people want others to know about what the religion actually teaches, especially when Muslims are okay with women who adorn themselves with makeup and beauty while wearing the hijab, but go bonkers when a person takes it off (even when she is not beautifying herself with anything)? That Islam allows beautifying but at the same time rejects it? That it allows men gazing at beautiful hijabi women who publicize herself but at the same time condemns non hijabi women from showing herself to the public?

At the end of the day, what Emma wants to wear is her business, and there's no need to go full "busybody" mode because of her. Especially when you yourself do not know much about your religion, because, it just might backfire especially with the whole "pakai tudung lagi cantik" notion.

**Some have said that what they mean is "cantik di mata Allah", this isn't always the case though. Mostly what they mean is really that person looks cantik in their eyes, especially when the men say it. In any case, why does a person speak for Allah now as if he knows what Allah thinks?
