Chinese discrimination towards Africans in China
There are many reports coming out that foreigners are being treated badly and discriminated against in China. China has temporarily banned all foreigners from coming into the country to contain the Coronavirus spread, and this, coupled with public dissatisfaction with foreigners due to social media influence has impacted many non-Chinese nationals in the country, especially Africans.
China has seen an increase of cases in the past few days, mostly imported from overseas. The only thing that the Chinese are not saying is that the majority of these people who are coming to China with the virus, are returning Chinese nationals, and NOT foreigners. The foreigners bringing in the cases are a minority.
One particular city that has seen many cases of racism since last week is Guangzhou, where Africans from various African countries have reported being kicked out from their rented apartments and hotels and asked to find other places to stay (videos of this have gone viral). Others have been repeatedly tested for Coronavirus by public authorities just because they are foreigners, as well as being transferred to a hotel (that they need to pay for themselves) for quarantine even if they have just finished their 14-day quarantine.
There are also many reports of Africans being barred from entering shopping malls, restaurants, shops and other public places. Mind you, that this does not only affect Africans, but also other foreigners as well. It is just that the Africans have had the worst treatment and a higher number of cases.
Today, news came out of another case in Guangzhou, where they had put a sign that "black people" are not allowed to enter a McDonald's restaurant. This kind of news is very embarrassing to China, and they should be embarrassed and ashamed. Heaven knows how many restaurants have actually put up signs like these that haven't been recorded and shared on the net.
What is more disappointing is to see the Chinese foreign ministry denying that there are any cases of discrimination in China towards Africans, and blamed America for spreading rumors! Notice, that China likes to make it seem that it is always a "United States vs China" affair, even though it has nothing to do with the United States, and the cases of racism towards foreigners are happening in their country. As I said before, do not easily believe the Chinese government propaganda, especially if it is by their agencies such as CGTN.
African ambassadors has already started to complain on the ill-treatment of nationals of their countries in China. We will just have to wait to see what the Chinese government will say in response.
The issue of China banning foreigners from restaurants and other places for fear of Covid 19 cases has been afloat for a few weeks already, and it is nothing new, however the recent cases of Africans being mistreated has sparked outrage from many people witnessing this. I am sure this doesn't happen everywhere in China and surely there are many places where foreigners do feel safe and not discriminated against, but the cases that are happening are too many to disregard. For many foreigners, it doesn't matter if they did not even leave China for the past few months, they will still be regarded differently. And that is the problem that China needs to address.

Chinese people will scream if they face the same kind of treatment outside China.
